Realization

A/N: I'm taking a break from the drabbles. I decided to try something else for now: write in a freestyle way. So far, I am enjoying it :)

Realization

Her hands shook as she stared at nothing.

He wasn't coming back, he had said to her.

Who was she to tell him otherwise? Who was she to beg him to stay?

She wished for the first time that she have told him. She wished that her mouth would open and let out that one word. Why couldn’t she? What had she been so afraid of that smiled and let him go?

She wasn't strong enough, she realized, as she looked at the piled up documents. She was too weak to say anything. She was so weak that she was repulsive to herself.

She thought of his face, happy, open, grinning as if there was no tomorrow.

For the first time in her life she admitted to her mistake.

But even after admitting it, she wondered why it hurt so much. Why it was so painful to even breath.
